Help and FAQ
Why is this lesson locked?
Unit 1 and its checkpoint are free for everyone. Units 2 to 5, their checkpoints and review for Units 2 to 5 are part of Premium. Lesson 3.1, "What a call needs", opens for free once you finish Unit 1. Now and then we take a single lesson down for a short while to fix it. It comes back by itself, and your progress in it stays.
What is free?
All of Unit 1 and the Unit 1 checkpoint. Lesson 3.1 once Unit 1 is done. One review a day, built from the questions you missed in Unit 1. The calculator, the range grid and the daily trainer drills work the same as before Learn came out.
Can I use my progress on two phones?
Yes. Sign in with the same account on both phones and your lessons, stars and review come with you. If you start as a guest, your progress stays on that phone only. Sign in on it first and it moves to your account.
I reinstalled and lost my progress
Guest progress lives on the phone, so removing the app removes it, and we have no copy of it. If you were signed in, sign in again with the same account and your progress comes back. You will not get the XP for a finished lesson a second time, and you will not lose it either.
How do I restore my purchase?
Sign in, open the You tab and tap Restore purchases. You can also tap Restore at the bottom of the Premium screen. Use the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with. Units 2 to 5 open as soon as the store confirms it.
Why are the lessons in English?
The whole app is in English for now, lessons included. If you would like the lessons in your language, write to us. We count every request.
How do lessons count for XP and the daily ring?
You get XP for each question you answer right on the first try and for finishing the lesson, plus a little more with no mistakes. A replay only pays when you beat your earlier result. A finished lesson counts as 5 of the 10 drills on the daily ring, replays included. A review of at least 5 questions counts once a day. Lessons never use up your free daily drills.
This number looks wrong
Every number in a lesson comes from the same equity engine the calculator uses, not from a table someone typed in. If one still looks off, tap "Something off? Tell us" at the end of the lesson. The message tells us which lesson it came from, so one line about the question is enough. We check it, and if it is wrong we take the lesson down until it is fixed.
How do I cancel a trial?
Cancel in your subscription settings: in the App Store on iPhone, or in Google Play on Android. Do it at least a day before the trial ends so you are not charged. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
How do I contact you?
Write to hello@poker.academy. You can also tap "Something off? Tell us" on the You tab or at the end of a lesson. We read every message.
What will I be able to do after the course?
One thing per unit, each one practised and checked in the lessons:
- You judge an all-in by your share of the pot, not by how one hand ended, and you know you can call while behind when that share covers your call.
- You count your outs, throw out the ones that also help them, and turn the rest into a chance to hit on the next card or by the river.
- You work out what a call needs, compare it with your equity, and know when the next card alone has to pay for the call.
- You put a rough range on a player from what they did, count its combos with the cards you can see taken out, and know your equity against the whole range, not just the hand you fear.
- You run one routine with their cards hidden, from your outs to your decision, and on the river you count their bluffs before you call.
